Principal’s Welcome

Merbein P10 College officially commenced as a single P-10 school in January 2010 following the merger of three local primary schools with the local secondary college. Promises were made by State Government to regenerate all of the school’s facilities.  Following completion of the first Stage of construction in November, 2012, students from the four campuses combined to occupy the new buildings for the first time.

Merbein P10 College has since established itself as a successful community school that serves our students and families well.  Over recent years the school has seen significant enrolment growth.  In February 2019, our enrolment reached 753, composed of 230 primary and 523 secondary students.

Since 2010, more than $14 m has been invested to provide new and refurbished facilities.  The most recent capital works project (3.4 million) was completed in mid-2018 and included refurbishments of our Gymnasium, Library, Flexible Learning Options (FLO) centre, Art and a new Technology Centre.

Although the final stage of a promised regeneration remains to be completed, our current school amenities ensure our students enjoy well-equipped and comfortable classrooms.

Merbein P10 College provides a positive culture based on values of Respect, Responsibility, and Quality (doing our best).   The school has implemented the School Wide Positive Behaviours Program since 2012 which has provided a framework to embed our values in our daily interactions.  This approach has contributed significantly to the development of a safe, orderly and engaging learning environment, and we are proud of our inclusiveness and the positive relationships that exists between students and staff.

At Merbein P10 College, we recognise that personal wellbeing is the key to academic, personal and social success.  To support the wellbeing of our students, the school provides various services including employment of highly-skilled social workers, Doctors-in-Schools, Home Group teachers and Learning Centre Leaders.

Based on a shared belief that students experience greater engagement and improved learning outcomes when they are empowered to take greater responsibility for their learning, the school provides a range of opportunities for students to voice their opinions.  This includes enabling students to contribute to the wider school community and to help shape the curriculum to drive learning.

In addition to the traditional academic program, Merbein P-10 College also offers VET programs and Work Place Learning opportunities for our older students.   The school also provides a comprehensive range of extra-curricular activities including sport, camps, performance, music, and a China Exchange program for Year 10 students.
